Leonel Sousa is currently a Full Professor at the University of Lisbon (UL). He has authored over 300 papers in international journals and conferences and has edited six special issues of renowned international journals. His research interests include processing accelerators, computer architectures, and parallel processing. He has served on the editorial boards of several IEEE Transactions and is currently an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computing. He was a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society,  Distinguished Visitor for the IEEE Computer Society, and also an ACM Distinguished Speaker. Professor Sousa is a Fellow of the IET, a Distinguished Scientist of the ACM, and a Distinguished Contributor to the IEEE Computer Society.
