Francesco Silvestri
Francesco Silvestri is an associate professor in Computer Engineering at the University of Padova. Previously, he was an assistant professor at the University of Padova and a post-doc at the IT University of Copenhagen. His research addresses the design and analysis of algorithms and data structures, with a focus on big data and high-performance computing. He has been working on MapReduce and multicore algorithms, memory-efficient algorithms, similarity search, and high dimensional data. He has been awarded the IPDPS 2010 Best Paper award, the ACM SIGMOD Research Highlight Award 2021, and the ICDT 2023 Best Paper award. He has been involved in the program and organizing committees of several conferences (e.g., IPDPS, Euro-Par, ESA) and he is associate editor of the ACM Transactions on Parallel Computing.
